This article covers our Contact Companies feature. Here you can add the details of companies that you engage with, track tasks, and organize contacts who are affiliated with the company. With one look, you can see all the contacts you have that are associated with a company and their details.
Step 1: To Navigate to the Contacts tab, open the Company feature and Click on New Company.
To Add a new company click “+ New Company”
NOTE: Users with Admin permissions are able to create and edit new company accounts that will be added to the list. If the 'New Company' button is not present, then your user account does not have permission to edit the information in this section.
Fill out all of the relevant fields and click “Add New Company”
When creating a company, the following fields should be completed:
Company Name (mandatory): Required text field.
Phone Number: Optional field.
Email: Optional field.
Website: Optional field.
Description: Optional field.
Street Address: Optional field.
City: Optional field.
Postal Code: Optional field.
Country: Optional field.
Validation: Only mandatory fields are validated; phone numbers and email addresses are checked for format only, not for accuracy.
How to Edit or Update Company Details:
To update an existing company's details, navigate to the Company tab, click the three dots next to the company name, and select "Edit Company."
How to Delete a Company:
To remove a company, go to the Company tab, click the three dots next to the company name, and select "Delete Company."
Important Note:
Deleting a company will not remove its associated contacts from your contacts list. It only clears the company information from the Company tab of those contacts, leaving the tab empty.
Step 2: To add a Contact to a Company
Click on contacts
On the contacts Tab Select the Corresponding contact
Click ‘Apply’
Step 3: Once saved, you will see your Contacts in the company sub tab
Step 4: Create and view tasks at the company level: View all tasks of contacts associated with a company under the company details page. Navigate to Contacts > Company > Tasks.
Here you are able to perform a few actions. You have the ability to sort tasks at column level for due date & status, to change the status of a task seamlessly and to Edit & delete tasks.
This is the very first step in helping users track activities at a company level, starting with tasks.
NOTE: You have the ability to map/associate multiple contacts with a company in one go from the company details page. Users can visit the company details page, go to the contacts tab & select add contacts option. Then they can select multiple contacts from the dropdown & map them with the company. On applying to all the contacts, they will get mapped with the company.
Step 5: If you’d like to use the “business name” field in contacts to create a company and associate contacts with it, you can go to Settings > Companies, and select the below setting.
If you’d like, you can retroactively do this as well from the pop-up after enabling.
FAQ
1. How do I add a new company to the Contact Companies feature?
To add a new company, navigate to the Contacts tab, open the Company feature, and click on “+ New Company.” Fill out the relevant fields and click “Add New Company” to save the information.
2. Why can't I see the 'New Company' button in the Company feature?
If the 'New Company' button is not visible, it means your user account does not have the necessary permissions to create or edit company accounts. Users with Admin permissions have the ability to perform these actions.
3. How do I associate a contact with a company?
To add a contact to a company, go to the Contacts tab, select the contact you want to associate with the company, and click ‘Apply.’ The contact will then be linked to the company in the company’s sub-tab.
4. Can I manage tasks for a company and its associated contacts?
Yes, you can view and manage tasks at the company level by navigating to Contacts > Company > Tasks. You can sort tasks by due date or status, change the status of tasks, and edit or delete tasks as needed.
5. Is it possible to map multiple contacts to a company at once?
Yes, you can map multiple contacts to a company from the company details page. Go to the contacts tab, select the 'Add Contacts' option, choose multiple contacts from the dropdown, and apply the changes to associate them with the company.
