What is an EHIC/GHIC card and do I need one?

Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC)

We highly recommend that all travellers obtain a Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC). It is important to note that this is not a replacement for travel insurance. The GHIC may not cover the cost of all treatment or repatriation as per that received in the UK.

If you still have a valid EHIC Card, then you can still use this up until the expiry date on the card. If your card has expired you'll need a GHIC instead.

An EHIC or GHIC is not a replacement for travel insurance. Make sure you have both before you travel.
