🌊 Our historical cancellation rate is 10% of total trips due to weather and 5% of trips due to minimums not met. The majority between January and March.

Weather Conditions

We understand that you may have concerns about the weather, but rest assured that we will do our best to provide you with a safe and enjoyable experience. If we do have to cancel a trip, we will do our best to reschedule it for another time that works for you or you can get a refund.

Swell

San Diego is known for its beautiful beaches and sunny weather. However, between January and March, we experience storm fronts and high swells that can last for about 3-4 days. While we plan our trips for every weekend, we have to work around Mother Nature's plans to ensure the safety of our guests.

Rain

Rainy weather doesn't often interfere in-water activities like diving and snorkeling so we'll likely still run charters if it's raining. For our Mission Bay cruises, we rarely have to cancel trips since rain in San Diego is often quick and mild.

Cancellation timeframe

To make charter cancellation decisions, we use a combination of professional applications such as NOAA, Surfline, and Predict Wind. These forecasts are good references, but they are ever-changing. That's why we usually decide to cancel trips between 3 days and 24 hours before departure time.

πŸ“΅ If you're concerned about the weather, we kindly ask you to wait for our official updates, which we send out via email or SMS.

Guest Numbers

Minimum requirements

We have no minimum guest requirements on private charters. Here are our minimums for public trips:

Local Trips

Local trips to Wreck Alley, Point Loma, and La Jolla have a minimum of 2 guests.

Coronado Islands Trips

For Mexican trips, we require a minimum of 10 guests.

Change in guest count

If you need to change the number of guests on your private charter, you can do so at any time within the boat's capacity limits. This means that you can increase or decrease the number of guests as long as it does not exceed the maximum capacity of the boat.

Private charter prices don't change based on guest count and you don't have to let us your final guest count until check-in.
