There are several ways how Water Stories supports you to find work:
Tasks and structure of the course
To finish the course you have to complete a number of tasks. Some of the tasks involve giving a presentation about water cycles and a workshop for your community.
Many of our students have reported that they got their first jobs from participants of the presentation or workshop. The course also requires that you build small models of water features such as rain gardens or infiltration basins. Documenting this work and offering it for free to people with land has lead to more job opportunities for students.
To complete the professional certification, you will need to complete your first full project for a client. We support you in the process of creating your offer and you will learn from many years of experience how to structure and offer your work.
It might feel scary at the beginning but our students report how much it has helped them to move out of their comfort zone and start working in the field of water cycle restoration.
Community
Another way to find work is the Water Stories community. We encourage the exchange of projects and work within the community. Some people have experience but no land, and others have land and machines, but lack the experience.
Bringing people together has been a great way for many to gain experience and offer their services to the world.Quite a few of our students have started to work together after the course to share their different skillsets and tackle larger projects together.
Professional Development
The professional Development calls are another way how we support you to create and offering and find work. You can ask all your questions about what you want to offer and get feedback how to start working and improve your skills.
We are also offering active trainings and opportunities to join projects in the field for people who complete the course.
In the future we also want to offer an exchange of projects and work for people who completed the course to get more work or collaborate on projects.
Conclusion
We have structured the course and community in a way that you will be able to build your offering and start working on real projects when you get certified. While we can't promise you to get work, we are confident that you will be able to find your own work if you do all the exercises, take part in the community and complete the course.
