Rocks is where you organize your most important goals for the quarter, giving your team a clear focus on what matters most. Rocks help everyone align around priorities, track progress consistently, and understand how their work contributes to company outcomes. On the main Rocks page, you will see your favorite rock groups at the top, followed by all rock groups you have access to. Each group contains a collection of quarterly goals, organized in a structured and easy-to-navigate layout.

You can quickly create rock groups, switch between different views, add new rocks, and update progress as the quarter moves forward. Each rock group includes separate sections for company rocks and individual rocks, giving you a clean distinction between organizational goals and personal commitments. With the ability to use list view or Kanban view, attach files, write descriptions, update statuses, and reorganize rocks at any time, this tool gives your team a powerful way to stay accountable and aligned throughout the quarter.

Five Steps to Get Started

1. Explore your existing rock groups on the main page
Start by reviewing the Rocks page, where all rock groups are displayed. Favorites appear at the top and can be adjusted in your display settings. Reviewing the full list helps you understand which teams or functional areas have active rock groups and where your priorities are concentrated for the quarter.

2. Create a new rock group
Click the plus rock group button in the upper right to set up a new group. Give the group a clear title that reflects its purpose, such as Q1 Product Goals or Marketing Priorities. Assign the associated team and set the priority level for the group. Rock groups help you organize goals by department or cross-functional initiative.

3. Add rocks to your group
Inside the group, click the plus icon to create a new rock. Enter a descriptive title, select whether the rock is a company rock or an individual rock, and add a short description to clarify context. Attach files, links, or related documentation if needed. Set priority levels or properties to help your team understand the importance of each rock.

4. Organize rocks in the view that fits your workflow
Choose between list view and Kanban view to manage your rocks. List view provides a structured, detailed layout, while Kanban view gives you a visual board for tracking progress across stages. You can drag rocks between statuses or reorder them to reflect shifting priorities. Switching views does not affect your data, so you can choose whichever format works best for your team.

5. Update progress and track status throughout the quarter
Each rock can be marked as on track, off track, or done. Update these regularly to reflect progress and keep your team aligned. Rocks can be moved, reorganized, or adjusted at any time. Keeping statuses current helps leaders understand where support may be needed and ensures your priorities stay visible.

Tips and Tricks for Best Results

Keep rocks focused and achievable
Limit the number of rocks per person or team to maintain clarity and align around meaningful outcomes.

Use clear descriptions
A strong description helps team members understand the intent and scope of each rock.

Separate company goals from individual goals
This distinction ensures both organizational priorities and personal commitments stay clear.

Review rocks weekly
Regular check-ins help maintain momentum, catch obstacles early, and reinforce accountability.

Use attachments for clarity
Link supporting documents, plans, or references so the team can access everything needed to complete each rock.
