Troubleshooting Microphone Permission Issues

Wavo needs microphone access to transcribe and generate notes. This article helps you resolve permission issues or technical issues.

Updated this week

Why Microphone Permissions Are Important

Wavo needs microphone access to:

  • Capture your patient conversations in real-time.

  • Transcribe medical terminology accurately.

  • Generate structured clinical notes without manual input.

If permissions aren’t enabled, Wavo won’t be able to transcribe, and you’ll need to troubleshoot the issue.

Common Microphone Permission Issues and Fixes

Issue 1: I Didn’t Allow Microphone Access During Onboarding

  • Manually Enable in Browser:

    • Chrome: Click the lock icon next to the URL, select “Site settings,” and set “Microphone” to “Allow.”

    • Safari: Go to Safari > Settings for This Website, and set “Microphone” to “Allow.”

    • Firefox: Click the microphone icon in the address bar and select “Allow.”

  • Test Again: Refresh the page and start a new session to confirm access.

Issue 2: I Selected “Never Allow” by Mistake

  • Change Browser Settings:

    • Chrome: Go to Settings > Privacy and Security > Site Settings > Microphone, find secure.wavo.health, and change the setting to “Allow.”

    • Safari: Go to Safari > Settings > Websites > Microphone, find secure.wavo.health, and set to “Allow.”

    • Firefox: Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Permissions > Microphone > Settings, find secure.wavo.health, and allow access.

  • Restart Your Browser: After changing the settings, close and reopen your browser, then log in at https://secure.wavo.health/en/sign-in to test.

Issue 3: My Microphone Isn’t Working Even After Allowing Access

  • Check Your Device:

    • Ensure your microphone is functional by testing it with another app (e.g., a voice recorder).

    • If using an external microphone, make sure it’s properly connected and selected as the default input device in your system settings.

  • Browser Settings: Confirm your browser is using the correct microphone (e.g., in Chrome, click the three-dot menu > New Tab > Microphone, and select the correct device).

  • Background Noise: Test in a quiet environment, as excessive noise can interfere with transcription.

Issue 4: I’m Using a Mobile Device and Microphone Access Isn’t Working

  • Check Device Permissions:

    • iOS: Go to Settings > Privacy > Microphone, and ensure Wavo Health (or your browser) is toggled on.

    • Android: Go to Settings > Apps > [Your Browser] > Permissions, and enable Microphone access.

  • Use a Compatible Browser: Wavo works best on Chrome, Safari, or Firefox. Ensure your browser is updated.

  • Restart the App: Close your browser, reopen it, and log in at https://secure.wavo.health/en/sign-in to try again.
