How to resize and reframe a clip

Resize clips for TikTok, Shorts, Reels, and other platforms.

👀 Availability

Bulk Edit, Auto Reframe, video length, and export quality can depend on your plan.

Resize sets the video's output size or aspect ratio. Reframe controls how the source content is positioned inside that frame. WayinVideo supports three Reframe workflows.

Workflow

How it works

Multiple clips after clipping

In Bulk Edit, turn on Resize and choose a size. WayinVideo automatically reframes the selected clips, including both resize and layout.

One clip

In the Video Editor, choose a Reframe size and decide whether to use Auto Reframe.

One full video

Reframe the entire long video with Auto Reframe so the framing can adapt as scenes change.

Where each workflow starts

The three workflows start in different places:

  • Multiple clips (Bulk Edit): After AI Clipping, Game Clipping, or Find Moments finishes, open the page where your generated clips are listed. Select several clips, then open Bulk Edit.

  • One clip (Video Editor): From the same results page, open a single clip in the Video Editor.

  • One full video (Auto Reframe): On the home page, click Auto Reframe. You can find it with the other WayinVideo tools.

Bulk Edit and the Video Editor work with clips you have already generated, so both start from the clip results page. Full-video Auto Reframe is a standalone tool for an entire long video, so it starts from the home page instead.

Resize clips in Bulk Edit

Use Bulk Edit when you have created several clips from a long video and want to prepare them for the same destination, such as TikTok, YouTube Shorts, or Instagram Reels.

  • After AI Clipping, Game Clipping, or Find Moments, open the page where your generated clips are listed.

  • Select the clips you want to update.

  • Open Bulk Edit and turn on Resize.

  • Choose the output size.

  • Apply the setting to the selected clips.

When Resize is selected in Bulk Edit, WayinVideo automatically applies Auto Reframe to each selected clip. This includes both:

  • Resize: changing the output size or aspect ratio

  • Layout: arranging the people, subjects, gameplay, or screen content inside the new frame

You do not need to choose a separate layout for every clip before running the bulk edit. After processing, review the clips and open any exception in the Video Editor for individual adjustments.

Reframe one clip in the Video Editor

Use the Video Editor when one clip needs more control than the rest of the batch.

  • From the page where your generated clips are listed, open the clip in the Video Editor.

  • Select Reframe and choose the output size.

  • Turn Auto Reframe on or off.

  • Choose a layout and review the result.

If Auto Reframe is turned on, we recommend setting Layout to Auto. This lets WayinVideo choose the most suitable framing as the visual focus changes. Use a fixed layout when you want the same composition throughout the clip.

Review the whole clip after reframing, especially when speakers move, the active subject changes, or the video switches between a person, gameplay, and screen content.

Auto Reframe a full video

You can also reframe an entire long video instead of creating clips first. To open this workflow, go to the home page and click Auto Reframe.

Choose the target size and use Auto Reframe when the framing needs to adapt throughout the video.

Auto Reframe automatically keeps faces and important subjects properly framed as scenes change. It follows the visual focus and can switch between Full, Fit, and other layouts based on what appears on screen.

This is useful for:

  • Podcasts and interviews with changing speakers

  • Screen recordings that alternate between a presenter and shared content

  • Gameplay videos with both gameplay and facecam

  • Product demos with changing subjects or camera angles

  • Long videos that combine several scene types

Instead of applying one fixed crop from beginning to end, Auto Reframe can choose a more suitable composition for each part of the video.

Choose a layout

Layout controls how the source video is arranged inside the selected output size.

Layout

Best starting point for

Auto

Letting WayinVideo choose and change layouts based on each scene

Full

Prioritizing content that should fill the output frame

Fit

Keeping more of the original frame visible

Split

Showing two speakers, subjects, or content areas together

Trio

Arranging three speakers or visual areas

Grid

Showing several visual areas in a multi-panel layout

PiP

Placing a secondary view over the main content

Screen First

Giving shared screens or demonstrations more space

Gameplay

A gameplay-focused composition

Choose Auto when scenes or subjects change. Choose a fixed layout when the source composition stays consistent or you already know exactly how it should appear.

Use a layout template

WayinVideo also provides ready-made templates based on common scenes and video types. Templates give you a visual starting point without requiring you to build the composition manually.

Examples include:

  • Full-screen and blurred-background layouts

  • Split-screen and three-speaker podcast layouts

  • Screen-sharing layouts that prioritize the shared content

  • Gaming layouts for racing, shooting, fighting, and MOBA videos

A layout controls the arrangement of the video inside the frame. A template is a prepared version of that arrangement for a specific content scenario. Select a template that resembles your source video, then review the framing and adjust it if needed.

Which workflow should you use?

Your goal

Recommended workflow

Resize many generated clips for the same platform

Bulk Edit > Resize

Fine-tune one clip

Video Editor > Reframe

Let one clip adapt as its visual focus changes

Auto Reframe with Layout set to Auto

Reframe an entire long video

Full-video Auto Reframe

Keep the same composition throughout

Choose a fixed layout

Start from a podcast, screen-share, or gaming composition

Choose a relevant template

Before you export

Play through the result and check:

  • Faces and important subjects remain visible

  • The active speaker is framed correctly

  • Gameplay and screen content are not cropped in the wrong place

  • Split, Trio, Grid, or PiP layouts match the number of important visual areas

  • Subtitles and hook text do not cover essential content

  • Layout changes feel natural from scene to scene

If one clip or scene does not frame correctly, open it in the Video Editor and adjust the size, Auto Reframe setting, or layout.
