API Units and billing

Understand how API Units work and how they differ from regular WayinVideo Credits.

API Units are used for work submitted through the WayinVideo API.

They are separate from regular WayinVideo Credits. If you use the API, your API usage is charged from your API Units balance. If you use features inside the WayinVideo web app, those actions may use website Credits instead.

When you need API Units

You need API Units when your application or automation submits processing jobs through the API, such as video clipping, moment search, summarization, transcription, upload-based workflows, or export tasks.

The exact cost depends on the API feature and the amount of media processed. For current usage rates, use the API Pricing documentation as the technical source of truth.

Where to buy and review usage

Open My Workspace > API in WayinVideo.

From the API area, you can:

  • Purchase API Units

  • Check your API Units balance

  • Review API usage history

  • Review transaction history

  • Download invoices when available

API Units vs website Credits

API Units and website Credits are not the same balance.

Use API Units for programmatic API workflows. Use website Credits for supported actions inside the WayinVideo web app. Buying one type of balance does not automatically add the other.

If you run out of API Units

If your account does not have enough API Units, API processing may fail or stop accepting new tasks until you purchase more units.

If you are running a production workflow, check usage regularly and keep enough balance for your expected workload.

Failed tasks

Failed API tasks may be treated differently from successful tasks depending on the task type and billing rule. Check the API Docs or contact Support if you need to understand a specific failed task charge.
