Working with Creators & Publishers on Wayward

How do creators and publishers discover my products?


Once your products are activated, they automatically flow into Wayward’s product feeds, which are integrated directly into our creators’ and publishers’ product selection tools. This allows creators to easily discover and select your products for promotion. Publishers and creators also receive a notification as soon as your products become available in the network.

How do I incentivize creators and publishers to promote my products?


Commission rate is the biggest lever that brands can drive directly through the platform. Higher commissions give creators and publishers a stronger incentive to feature your products in their content, listicles, and other promotions.

You may consider testing slightly higher commission rates with select publishers to see how it affects your product exposure and sales for the month. From there, you can decide whether to maintain the increased rates or adjust them based on performance.

How do I contact creators through the platform?


To send a message to a creator through Wayward:

  • Navigate to the Creators tab

  • Filter creators by category/ niche

  • Click "Message"

This will open up an external email thread, and any replies will be sent to your Wayward Account Owner email address. If you would like replies forwarded to a different email address, or if you need to update your Account Owner, please contact us at brands@wayward.com.

How do I contact publishers through the platform?


For some of our larger publishing partners, Wayward manages communication on behalf of brands. For this reason, the messaging button may not be available for certain publishers in the Creators tab.

We maintain strong relationships with these publishers and regularly share product recommendations with them. Publishers also use a programmatic approach to promotion — once your products are activated, they automatically appear in the publishers’ product feeds and selection tools, and publishers are notified that your products are live.

Because of this setup, there is typically less direct back-and-forth between brands and publishers on the platform, but your products are still being actively promoted behind the scenes.

Is Wayward campaign-based?


Wayward is not campaign-based in the traditional sense. Instead of running time-bound campaigns, it operates as an always-on network that continuously tracks and attributes sales driven by creators and publishers.

To have your products promoted, simply enable them for promotion across both attribution and associates, and they will automatically be eligible across Wayward’s entire network. No campaigns are required, which makes it easier for creators and publishers to discover and promote your products.

Can I set custom commission rates with creators/publishers?


Yes. Wayward allows you to set custom commission rates for specific creators or publishers, in addition to your default rate. This is a great way to incentivize top-performing partners to prioritize your products.

Many brands use this strategy to strengthen relationships with high-value creators, and we highly encourage it as a way to drive more engagement and sales.

To set a custom commission rate for a creator for one specific product:


  1. Navigate to Amazon → Products in your dashboard.

  2. Find the product you’d like to adjust and click the edit icon next to its commission rate.

  3. Select "Set commissions for specific creators only."

  4. Search for the creator you want to apply the custom rate to.

  5. Enter your desired commission rate for the creator.

  6. Click Save to apply the changes.

To set a custom commission rate for a creator for multiple products:


  1. Navigate to Amazon → Products in your dashboard.

  2. In the left-hand column, select the products you want to update.

  3. At the bottom of the screen, go to the Commissions tab and choose “Private commission.”

  4. Search for the creator you want to apply the custom rate to.

  5. Enter your desired commission rate.

  6. Click Save to apply the changes.

Note: When you update a commission rate / set a custom commission rate, the change takes effect immediately. However, it may take up to 48 hours for the updated rate to activate.

Can I disable or block publishers on Wayward?


Yes. You are able to disable specific creators and publishers from promoting your products. To do so:

  1. Navigate to the Creators tab in Wayward.

  2. Search for the publisher you'd like to disable.

  3. Click on their profile.

  4. In the side panel under Partnership, scroll to the bottom and click "Enabled for all brands."

  5. Select "Disable for specific offerings."

  6. Choose Associates to disable them for that program.

Note: When you disable a publisher on the platform, the change takes effect immediately. However, it may take up to 48 hours for the removal to be fully processed on the platform.

Am I required to send products samples to creators?


No, sending product samples is not required for creators to promote your products on Wayward. As a brand, you have full control over whether or not you'd like to offer samples to creators on the platform.

Offering samples can help increase engagement, but the decision is entirely up to you.

Are there requirements for creators to join Wayward?


Yes. Wayward maintains strict requirements for creators to join our network. Every creator is carefully reviewed and must be approved before joining to ensure that we partner only with high-quality, reputable creators who meet our standards. We look at engagement metrics, authenticity, and expertise as our core criteria.
