Depending on your state, you may be able to name co-agents or successor agents. Consider naming only one person to act as agent at a time, even if that person may require assistance or solicit opinions from other family members when making decisions. Naming more than one person to act as an agent entails gathering multiple signatures, which can increase administrative hurdles when decisions need to be made in an emergency.
However, if you prefer naming co-agents to act at the same time, you may do so under the Primary Agent(s) section in the Financial Power of Attorney workflow. Here you can select 'Add Co-Agent' if your state allows for the naming of a co-agent.
To name successor agents to act in the event your primary agent is not available, add them on the next page within the document workflow under the Back Up Agent(s) section or write them in by hand before signing on the printed version of the PDF (to the extent allowed by your state).
Important Considerations
The ability to add co-agents or more than one agent in the Financial Power of Attorney may not be available in your state, and this option will be unavailable to enter in the document creation workflow if your state does not support this election.
