Managing Multi-Document PDFs with Ester

Ester, our AI-driven assistant, is designed to recognize when a single PDF contains multiple document types (such as a Revocable Trust, Will, and Financial Power of Attorney), provided the file is stored in the Vault.

How to Upload Combined Documents to the Vault

Instead of manually splitting a large PDF or DOCX file yourself, you can upload the entire document and let Ester identify the individual components for you.

  1. Select Your Client: Open the specific client profile.

  2. Navigate to the Vault: Select Vault from the left-side navigation panel.

  3. Upload the File: Click Select to Upload or drag and drop your file (PDF or DOCX) into the upload section.

  4. Once the document is uploaded, Ester will identify whether multiple documents are included in the file. From there, we will categorize the file as Multiple Documents.

Reviewing and Splitting Your Documents

Once the upload is processed, Ester will analyze the file to identify where one document ends and the next begins.

  1. Start the Review: Click on the uploaded file or select Start Review at the top of the Vault page.

  2. Verify Detections: Ester will list the detected documents (e.g., Last Will & Testament, Revocable Trust) along with their specific page ranges.

  3. Edit or Refine:

    • To Edit: Select the three dots next to a document to change the title, page ranges, or category.

    • To Delete: Select the three dots to remove any pages or sections that should not be in your Vault.

  4. Finalize: Click Save and Split. Ester will automatically save each document as an individual, labeled file in your Vault. You can then choose to kick off the extraction of each document for Ester to review.
