How to Name Caretakers for Pets

Wealth.com does not offer Pet Trusts, given that they are not favored in most jurisdictions. Instead, we offer the option to nominate a caretaker for pets and to leave a cash gift for the designated caretaker.

How to Add Caretakers for Pets in the Trust or Will Workflow:

  1. In the Family Panel, go to the Special Circumstances section and specify that you have pets.

  2. Name a Caretaker and Allocate a Cash Gift for Pet Care:

    • In the Trustees and Decision Makers panel, go to the Caretakers for Pets section to enter the caretaker

    • Specify a monetary amount to cover the pet's future care (optional).

  3. Complete the Workflow and Review:

    • Proceed through the remaining steps in the workflow.

    • Navigate to the Review Panel to verify your selections. Once confirmed, generate a PDF of your estate plan.

Here is an example of how this looks in the workflow:

Our system doesn’t allow you to assign specific pets to specific people within this panel.
