American Depository Receipts (ADRs) are stocks that represent the shares of a foreign company that are traded on U.S. stock exchanges in U.S dollars. A foreign company will deposit some of their shares with a U.S. bank and then the bank will issue ADRs so that foreign companies can have greater exposure to U.S. investors.
