Over the course of a subcontract, you may find identify extra work that needs to be done, and subsequently need to apply for it in an application for payment. If the works carried out weren't in the original contract sum analysis created for the order on WebContractor, you'll need to add a new task line to so that you can include it in future applications for payments.
To get started, you'll need to navigate to your subcontract order, and then to the tasks tab where you normally create your applications for payment:
Go to your subcontract orders:
Select the order you need to add a variation request for:
Click on the task tab:
You should have a button on this page called 'Add Variation Request' - If you click on this it will open a menu to input the details of your variation request:
In the menu you'll need to input a few key pieces of information:
A contractor reference
A task name
The rate for the works and the quantity - the system will then calculate the total value of the variation request as the rate multiplied by the quantity
You will also need to upload a supporting document for your variation request. If you're not sure what document you need to upload, check with the QS from the contractor you're working with
In some circumstances, you may want or need to create a negative variation request. You can do this by making the quantity negative:
Once you're happy with your variation request, you'll need to click the 'Sign and Submit' button:
This will then created a new task line at the bottom of the page:
Depending on how the contractor you are working with is set up and configured on WebContractor, you may be able to apply for the amount in your variation request straight away, or you may need to wait until the contractor approves it. If you're unsure as to whether you can apply against your variation request, you can always ask the WebContractor Support team.
When you want to apply for against the variation request, you'll need to start raising an application for payment as normal, and you'll be able to enter your application amounts as you would for a normal task line:
