Web link Custom fields are a useful way to link a webpage or file to a record. However many website links (URLs) consist of very long strings. These Custom fields enable you to replace the consistent part of the string with a shortcut number.

You create a shortcut number and specify the full URL which it should represent i.e. *3 could be www.webcrm.com.

In the Custom field you can then enter *3/customers.asp and the full URL can be accessed to navigate to www.webcrm.com/customers.asp without risk of truncation due to the 50 character limit.
