Choosing the right installation location helps ensure your Aero™ GCX Microclimate Sensor collects accurate, representative environmental data.
Looking for step-by-step setup instructions? See Installing an Aero™ GCX Microclimate Sensor for the complete installation process in the GreenCast Connect app.
Choosing the Right Location
Install the Aero™ GCX Microclimate Sensor in an area that best represents the conditions you want to monitor.
Common installation locations include:
Frost-prone or low-lying areas
Greens, tees or fairways with recurring disease pressure
Poorly ventilated locations
Landscape beds or high-value turf areas
Representative areas that reflect general site conditions
You can also install multiple Aero sensors across your property to compare environmental conditions between different microclimates.
Mount the Sensor Securely
For most installations, we recommend mounting the Aero™ GCX Microclimate Sensor approximately 48–72 inches (122–183 cm) above the ground.
The ideal mounting height may vary depending on your property, monitoring goals, and the area being measured.
The Aero™ GCX Microclimate Sensor should be mounted to a stable structure, such as:
A post
A fence post
A utility pole
Another secure mounting surface
The sensor can be attached using cable ties or other suitable mounting hardware.
Ensure the sensor is firmly secured so it remains stable throughout the season.
Position the Atmospheric Probe Correctly
Before installing the sensor in GreenCast Connect, attach the atmospheric probe to the right side of the Aero™ GCX Microclimate Sensor.
The atmospheric probe is not pre-mounted and must be installed before completing the setup.
The probe measures:
Ambient temperature
Relative humidity
Atmospheric (barometric) pressure
Maximize Solar Exposure
The Aero™ GCX Microclimate Sensor is powered by an integrated solar panel.
For reliable operation:
Install the sensor where it receives adequate sunlight throughout the day.
Avoid locations where the solar panel will be shaded for extended periods.
Keep the solar panel clean and free of debris when possible.
Avoid Obstructions
For the most accurate environmental measurements, install the sensor where air can circulate freely.
Avoid mounting the sensor:
Under trees or dense vegetation
Directly against buildings or walls
Beneath roof overhangs
In locations where airflow is blocked
An open, representative location will provide the most accurate environmental data.
Using Multiple Aero™ GCX Sensors
Installing Aero sensors in multiple locations provides a better understanding of how conditions vary across your property.
Consider placing sensors in areas with different environmental conditions, such as:
High and low elevations
Areas with poor air circulation
Different turf types or management zones
Monitoring multiple microclimates helps you identify localized conditions and make more informed management decisions.
