If you are waiting for a crypto transfer to arrive, you can monitor its real-time progress using a Transaction ID (TXID)—also known as a Transaction Hash. Think of this as your digital "tracking number" for the blockchain.
Follow these three steps to track your funds:
1. Locate the TXID
The TXID is a unique string of letters and numbers assigned to every verified transaction.
For Wallets: Open your transaction history, click on the specific activity, and look for "TXID," "Hash," or "View on Block Explorer."
For Exchanges: Go to your "Withdrawal History" or "Fund Activity" section to find the ID associated with your transfer.
Note: If you cannot find a TXID in your withdrawal history after a significant amount of time, please contact the support team of the platform/exchange you are withdrawing from to ensure the transaction was processed correctly.
2. Use a Blockchain Explorer
A blockchain explorer is a public search engine for ledger data. Simply copy your TXID, paste it into the search bar of the relevant explorer, and hit enter.
Below are the most reliable explorers for top cryptocurrencies:
Cryptocurrency | Recommended Blockchain Explorer |
Bitcoin (BTC) | |
Ethereum (ETH) | |
Solana (SOL) | |
BNB Chain (BSC) | |
Cardano (ADA) | |
Litecoin (LTC) |
3. Check the Confirmation Status
Once you pull up the transaction, pay attention to the following key details:
Status: Look for "Success," "Confirmed," or "Pending."
Confirmations: This represents the number of blocks added to the chain since your transaction was included. Most exchanges require a specific number of confirmations (e.g., 2 for Bitcoin) before the funds are credited to your account.
Transaction Details: You can also verify the exact sender/receiver addresses, the amount sent, and the network fees paid.
If the explorer says "Transaction Not Found," the transaction might still be in the local queue of the exchange or the network is extremely congested. If it remains "Not Found" for over an hour, it is best to check with the sending platform.
