FedEx Money-Back Guarantee & Late Delivery Refunds

How the FedEx Money-Back Guarantee works, which services are covered, when it doesn't apply, and how WCP handles shipping refund claims.

Written by Harvey Rico

What is the FedEx Money-Back Guarantee?

FedEx offers a Money-Back Guarantee on select Express services. If your package is delivered even one minute later than the committed delivery time, you may be eligible for a full refund of the shipping charges. This applies to the transportation charges only — not the cost of the items in your order.

FedEx does not automatically issue refunds for late deliveries. A claim must be filed within 15 calendar days of the invoice date. WCP can file a claim on your behalf — just let us know.

Which FedEx services are covered?

As of the latest FedEx policy update, the Money-Back Guarantee currently applies to these time-definite FedEx Express services only:

U.S. Domestic:

  • FedEx First Overnight

  • FedEx Priority Overnight

  • FedEx Standard Overnight

  • FedEx 2Day A.M.

International (all lanes):

  • FedEx International First

  • FedEx International Priority

  • FedEx International Priority Express

  • FedEx International Priority Freight

Not covered:

  • FedEx Ground — no delivery date guarantee

  • FedEx Home Delivery — no delivery date guarantee

  • USPS — no delivery date guarantee on any service

  • FedEx 2Day (standard, not A.M.) — not currently covered

  • FedEx Express Saver — not currently covered

If you selected FedEx Ground or USPS at checkout and your package arrived late, unfortunately no shipping refund is available through the carrier — those services do not guarantee delivery dates.

When does the guarantee NOT apply?

Even on covered Express services, FedEx will deny a refund claim if the delay was caused by circumstances outside their control, including:

  • Severe weather — storms, hurricanes, ice, flooding

  • Natural disasters — earthquakes, wildfires

  • Construction or road closures affecting delivery routes

  • Closed or inaccessible delivery location — business closed, gated community, no safe drop location

  • Incorrect or incomplete address — wrong zip code, missing apartment/suite number

  • Customs delays — regulatory holds on international shipments

  • Government or regulatory actions — tariff changes, new import restrictions

In short: if FedEx was responsible for the delay, you're eligible for a refund. If something outside FedEx's control caused it, the claim will be denied.

FedEx sometimes suspends the guarantee entirely

FedEx periodically suspends the Money-Back Guarantee for certain service lanes or regions when they anticipate widespread disruptions. Recent examples:

  • December 2025: FedEx suspended the guarantee on all domestic Express and all international services due to seasonal volume and MD-11 fleet safety reviews.

  • January 2025: FedEx suspended the guarantee on all international import services for about two weeks.

  • March 2020 – April 2021: FedEx suspended the guarantee on all services during COVID-19.

When the guarantee is suspended, no refund claims are eligible regardless of the reason for the delay. FedEx posts suspension notices on their Money-Back Guarantee page.

How WCP handles shipping refund requests

Since WCP ships packages using our carrier accounts, refund claims for late deliveries go through us — not directly through FedEx. Here's the process:

  1. Contact us at support@wcproducts.com with your order number and a description of the issue (e.g., "My FedEx Priority Overnight was supposed to arrive Thursday but didn't arrive until Monday").

  2. We'll check eligibility — we'll verify whether the service you selected is covered by the current Money-Back Guarantee policy and whether FedEx has any active suspensions for your route.

  3. If eligible, we file the claim with FedEx on your behalf. FedEx typically responds within 7 business days.

  4. If approved, we'll pass the shipping charge refund back to you as a refund to your original payment method or as store credit — your choice.

Important: Claims must be filed within 15 calendar days of the FedEx invoice date, so let us know as soon as possible if your Express delivery was late.

What if I used FedEx Ground or USPS?

FedEx Ground and USPS do not offer delivery date guarantees, so there is no carrier-side refund available for late deliveries on those services. The estimated delivery dates shown for Ground and USPS are just that — estimates, not commitments.

If hitting a specific delivery date is critical (especially during FRC build season), we always recommend selecting a FedEx Express service at checkout. Those are the only services with a guaranteed delivery date backed by FedEx's Money-Back Guarantee.
