Whale's pricing is built around creators and administrators — the people who build and manage your documentation. Viewers are always free. You pay for the seats that produce content, and anyone in your organization can read and use that content at no extra cost.

Whale offers four plans. Each paid plan includes a set number of creator seats, and you can add more creators at a flat per-seat rate. Viewers are unlimited and free on all paid plans.

Creators vs. Members
Creators are the people who build, edit, and manage content in Whale — writing SOPs, recording guides, setting up training flows, and administering the workspace. These are the seats you pay for.
Members are everyone else in your organization. Members can view content, search, Ask AI, comment, and complete training and quizzes. On all paid plans, you can add unlimited viewers at no extra cost.
This means the cost of Whale scales with your content team, not your headcount. A 200-person company with 5 creators pays the same as a 50-person company with 5 creators.

Monthly vs. yearly billing
Yearly billing gives you a lower per-month rate on Scale and Advance. Enterprise is yearly only. You can switch billing cycles from the Billing section in your workspace settings.

How the previous model worked
Each plan included a set number of users. You paid for additional users beyond the included seats. Both monthly and yearly billing were available, with yearly offering a discounted rate.
The previous model charged per user across your entire team. The new model charges only for creators (the people who build and manage content), and lets you add unlimited viewers for free on all paid plans.
