The what3words widget uses your device’s GPS signal to determine your location, just like the app does. That means it works even when you have no data or signal.

The frequency of location updates in the what3words widget is determined by the operating system of your phone. We’ve added a line of text below the what3words address that says when the location was last updated.

Tip: If your widget isn’t updating, your device may have lost GPS signal. Make sure you are outdoors with a clear view of the sky.

Please note that the what3words app widget is only available for devices running iOS 15 or later.
