Why it matters

The beginning and ending messages shape how callers perceive your business. A clear greeting builds trust and explains what the agent can help with. A professional closing confirms next steps and ends the call cleanly.

Key Concepts

Beginning Message: The opening message the AI agent plays at the start of the call. It introduces the business and sets expectations for the conversation.
Ending Message: The closing message the AI agent plays before ending the call. It confirms what happens next and ends the interaction professionally.
Agent Instructions: The configuration area in Whippy where you define how an AI agent behaves, including spoken messages.

Step-by-Step: Edit Beginning and Ending Messages

  1. Log in to Whippy.

  2. In the left menu, click Agents, then select Agents.

  3. Find the agent you want to update and click Edit Agent.

  4. Under Agent Instructions, locate the Begin Message field.

  5. Enter a short, clear greeting. (Example: “Hi, this is Abby from Express Employment in Albuquerque. I’m here to help you with your job application today.”)

  6. Scroll to the End the call by saying field.

  7. Enter a professional closing message. (Example: “Thank you for your time. We’ll review your application and be in touch soon. Have a great day.”)

  8. Click Save.

  9. Use Preview Agent or place a test call to confirm the changes.

Tips and Best Practices

  • Keep each message under 15 to 20 seconds.

  • Always include your business name in the beginning message.

  • Use a tone that matches your brand, such as friendly or professional.

  • Clearly set expectations for what the agent can help with.

  • Confirm next steps in the ending message when possible.
