Setting accurate business hours in Whippy ensures your automations, Voice AI Agents, and inbound message routing work the way you expect. When your hours are correct, customers get the right responses at the right time—whether you’re open, closed, or in a custom schedule.


Why Business Hours Matter

Your business hours control:

  • Automated After Hours Responses (e.g., “We’re closed—someone will reply tomorrow at 9 AM”)

  • Voice AI call handling (open vs. after-hours scripts)

  • Keyword triggers and sequences with time-based conditions

Keeping them updated ensures customers always receive accurate and timely communication.


How to Edit Business Hours in Whippy

Follow these steps to update your hours for any phone number or messaging channel.

1. Go to Settings

  • From the left-hand navigation menu, click Settings.

2. Open Channels

  • In the Settings submenu, select Channels (previously labeled Locations).

This page lists every channel, or messaging endpoint connected to your organization.

3. Choose the Channel You Want to Update

  • Find the channel you want to edit.

  • On the right side of the channel row, click the three dots (…) menu.

4. Select “Edit Channel”

  • From the dropdown, choose Edit Channel.

This opens the channel configuration panel.

5. Update Your Business Hours

  • Click the Business Hours tab.

  • Modify the schedule as needed:

    • Set open and close times

    • Mark days as closed

    • Add breaks or split shifts if needed (depending on your plan)

    • Adjust time zone settings

6. Save Your Changes

  • Once finished, the new hours applied will auto-save and be applied.

Your After-hours Responder, Voice AI, Chat AI, or any after hours automations you have set will immediately use the updated hours.


Example Use Cases

  • Holiday adjustments: Mark Thanksgiving or Christmas as closed to ensure your auto-reply switches to after-hours.

  • Seasonal hours: Update summer vs. winter hours when your operating schedule changes.

  • Multiple-channel setups: If you operate several locations, update each channel’s hours independently.

  • Review your hours quarterly to ensure accuracy.

  • Align your Voice AI Agent’s “open” and “closed” scripts with these hours.

  • Keep time zones consistent if you operate across multiple states or regions.

  • When adding new numbers/channels, set business hours immediately so automations run correctly.

Make sure the correct channel’s business hours are updated—each Channel (phone number) has its own schedule.

Why can’t I find ‘Locations’?

Whippy renamed Locations to Channels, but all functionality remains the same.
