Domains Settings in Whippy

Use Domains settings to buy or connect domains for link and email setup in Whippy.

Written by Maria Cairns

Why it matters

Domains settings keeps web, link, and email domain setup separate from SIP domains in Accounts, making it clearer which domain is used for which purpose.

Key Concepts

Add domain: Add domain starts the flow for connecting an existing domain.

Buy domain: Buy domain starts the flow for checking and purchasing a new domain where available.

Domain setup sections: A domain detail page can include Domain Setup, Links Setup, and Email Setup depending on what the domain is used for.

Step-by-Step: Add or buy a domain

  1. Open Settings > Domains.

  2. Click Add domain if you want to connect an existing domain.

  3. Click Buy domain if you want to search for and buy a new domain.

  4. Choose whether the domain should be used for Links, Emails, or both where the flow asks.

  5. Open a domain to review Domain Setup.

  6. Review Links Setup if the domain is used for links.

  7. Review Email Setup if the domain is used for email.

Tips and Best Practices

  • Use Settings > Domains for link and email domain setup.

  • Use Settings > Accounts for SIP domains tied to provider account voice infrastructure.

  • Choose Links or Emails carefully because each setup can require different DNS records.

  • Wait for DNS changes to propagate before assuming verification has failed.
