Remote tutoring basics

To tutor remotely with Whizzimo, you’ll use a platform that combines screen sharing, audio, video, and mouse control. Zoom is an excellent choice for managing these tools in one place. This is how you will see, hear, and interact with items on the screen. While Whizzimo isn’t partnered with Zoom, it is a reliable option for interactive tutoring.

🔔All participants should use either a Windows or Apple computer for sessions.

When you start a Zoom meeting, a Zoom tab may open in your browser, covering the Whizzimo tab. Click on the Whizzimo tab to return to your session.

Sharing your screen

  • In Zoom, click the Share option in the toolbar.

  • Choose Screen on the next screen.

  • Select Share again to allow your student to see your entire screen. This is where you share your Whizzimo screen that you want your student to see.

Remote control

  • Once your screen is shared, select Remote Control option in the toolbar. Remote control gives your student the ability to access your screen so they can type, draw, and more.

  • Select the name of the student you’d like to share control with.

  • Mouse control switches based on who clicks last. Remind your student to click when it’s their turn to type or move a tile.

💡 Test Zoom's screensharing and remote control functionality with a friend or colleague before using it with a student.
