Interactive remote tutoring basics

To tutor remotely with Whizzimo, you’ll use a platform that combines screen sharing, audio, video, and mouse control. Zoom is an excellent choice for managing these tools in one place. While Whizzimo isn’t partnered with Zoom, it is a reliable option for interactive tutoring.

🔔All participants should use either a Windows or Apple computer for sessions.

When you start a Zoom meeting, there may be a Zoom tab that has opened in your browser that is now in front of the Whizzimo tab. Please click on the Whizzimo tab as in the picture below to get back to Whizzimo.

Sharing your screen

To share your screen in Zoom, locate the Share option in the toolbar. Click it, then choose Screen on the next screen before selecting Share again. This lets your student see your entire screen.

Sharing mouse control

Once your screen is shared, you can give your student mouse control. During your session, find the Remote Control option in the toolbar. Select the name of the person you’d like to share control with.

Mouse control switches based on who clicks last. Remind your student to click when it’s their turn to type or move a tile.

🔔 Be sure to test Zoom's screensharing and mouse control functionality with a friend or colleague before using it with a student.
