Live video call verification during the onboarding

This article explains what to expect during your live video call verification at Wickie.

Written by Marius Wickie Support

As part of Wickie's onboarding process, every user is required to complete an identity verification step. As a Swiss-regulated platform supervised by SO-FIT, we follow strict compliance standards — and verifying your identity in a reliable, secure way is a core part of that commitment.

At the start of onboarding, you'll be asked to verify your identity using NFC verification — the fastest and most seamless option. Simply scan your biometric passport or national ID with your phone's NFC chip, and the process is handled automatically.

If NFC didn't work for you, no worries — you'll be able to finalise your verification using one of two alternative methods: Penny Drop or Live Video Call. This article covers everything you need to know about the Live Video Call option.

What is a live video call verification?

A live video call verification is a short, real-time identity check conducted via video. During the call, you'll be asked to show your identity document and confirm a few personal details. The whole process typically takes just a few minutes.

Who conducts the call?

In most cases, your video call will be handled by Sumsub — our trusted onboarding and identity verification partner. Sumsub is a leading compliance technology provider, and their team is experienced in conducting fast, smooth, and professional verification calls.

In some cases, the call may be conducted directly by a Wickie KYC/KYB Officer. This can happen when your application requires a more tailored review or additional compliance checks. Either way, the process is the same — and you're in good hands.

What to prepare

To make sure your call goes smoothly, have the following ready before you join:

  • Your valid government-issued ID (passport or national ID card)

  • A stable internet connection

  • A quiet, well-lit environment

  • Your camera and microphone enabled

What happens during the call?

The verification agent will:

  1. Ask you to show your identity document to the camera

  2. Confirm your name and a few personal details

  3. May ask you to perform a simple liveness action (e.g. turn your head, blink)

The call is recorded for compliance and audit purposes, in accordance with applicable data protection regulations.

After the call

Once your video call is complete, your verification is submitted for review. In most cases, the outcome is confirmed instantly. If additional checks are needed, our team will reach out via email.
