How to Checkout Using Klarna or Afterpay (Buy Now, Pay Later)

You can use Klarna or Afterpay at checkout through Stripe. Here’s a quick guide to make sure your payment goes through smoothly

Updated over 2 months ago

What is Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL)?

BNPL lets you buy now and pay later in smaller, manageable installments.
Stripe powers the checkout — so even though you’re paying over time, your order is confirmed instantly.

Supported options:

  • Klarna — Pay later, in 3 or 4 installments, or in 30 days (varies by region)

  • Afterpay — Pay in 4 interest-free payments, every two weeks

Step-by-Step: How to Checkout

1. Add your items to cart

Pick the plan you wanted to subscribe, hit Purchase, and proceed to checkout.

1.2.

2. Choose your payment method

At checkout, scroll to Payment Method and select Klarna or Afterpay.

3. Complete the BNPL setup

When you click one of these options:

  • Klarna: You’ll see choices like Pay in 3, Pay in 30 days, or Monthly plan.

  • Afterpay: You’ll see “Pay in 4 interest-free payments.”

Then you’ll either:

  • Be redirected to the provider’s login page, or

  • See a pop-up window where you sign in or create an account.

4. Return to our store

After verification, you’ll come right back to our site.
Your order is confirmed, and your payment plan starts with Klarna or Afterpay.

5. Post-purchase

  • Your order will appear like a normal purchase.

  • Klarna or Afterpay will handle the future installment payments.

  • You’ll get notifications or reminders directly from them.

Watch-outs (Important!)

Make sure these are all good before you checkout:

Ad Blockers

BNPL providers often open a pop-up or redirect window.
If your ad blocker or pop-up blocker is ON, you might never see the login window.
Turn off ad blockers or allow pop-ups temporarily.

Country & Currency

Klarna and Afterpay only appear if:

  • Your country and currency match the provider’s supported regions.

  • Example: Afterpay requires both the buyer and merchant to be in the same region.

If you don’t see the option, it might not be supported in your area.

Order Limits

Each BNPL provider has minimum and maximum order amounts.
If your cart total is too low or too high, the option won’t appear.

Declined BNPL

Even if it shows up, the provider may run a quick eligibility check.
If it’s declined — no worries — just use your card to complete the purchase.

Refunds & Returns

  • If you refund an order paid via BNPL, the provider will adjust or cancel the remaining payments.

  • Klarna and Afterpay handle those automatically — you don’t need to do anything on your end.

Browser Tips

  • Avoid using private/incognito mode — it can block cookies BNPL needs.

  • Make sure your browser is up to date.

  • If the option still doesn’t show up, refresh or try a different browser.
