FAQ: Why Isn’t My Camera Detecting Motion?

If your WiseEye camera isn’t detecting movement as expected, here are some common reasons and solutions:

Updated over a month ago

1. Incorrect Camera Placement

  • Ensure your camera is positioned at the right height. For best results, place it about 5 feet off the ground with a 5-15 degree downward angle. This setup optimizes both the infrared lights and motion detector for better performance.

2. Out of Detection Range

  • Each camera model has a specific detection range:

    • Mini Cam & Data Cam: 65 feet (20 yards) – Ideal placement is within 15 yards of the target.

    • MC-2 Models: 65 feet (20 yards) – Position within 15 yards of the subject.

    • DC-2 Model: 100 feet (33 yards) – Place within 25 yards for optimal detection.

  • Ensure your target is within the recommended range to avoid missed detections.

3. Motion Sensor Sensitivity Settings

  • WiseEye cameras have adjustable motion sensor sensitivity settings from 1-9. For closer subjects, set the sensitivity to a lower range (1-5) to reduce false triggers. For distant subjects, increase it to 5-9 to detect smaller movements. The default setting of 5 is a good starting point.

4. Environmental Factors

  • Ensure there are no branches or obstacles in front of the camera that might interfere with the infrared light or motion sensors.

By following these tips, you can significantly improve your camera's ability to detect movement and capture high-quality images. If issues persist, consider adjusting the sensitivity settings or repositioning the camera for better results.
