HuntControl was built to help you move beyond just seeing photos—it’s about seeing patterns. One of the most valuable tools in the system is tagging, which lets you mark what’s in each image and then use that data to track, analyze, and predict animal activity over time.
If you’re trying to pinpoint when a specific buck is moving, track predator pressure, or plan the best day to hunt a turkey roost, tagging gives you the clarity to make smarter decisions.
🔹 Step 1: Tag Your Photos - Start by reviewing your photos in HuntControl and tagging what you see.
How to tag an image:
Click on any image in your HuntControl gallery.
Click the #tag button.
Select an existing tag or create a new one.
Save the tag. That image is now part of your tag data.
✅ Tip: Be consistent with your tagging. The more images you tag, the more accurate your charts and predictions will be.
🔹 Step 2: Use the Activity Charts to Pattern Movement
Once you’ve tagged several photos, it’s time to look for trends using the Activity Chart.
How to pattern movement by tag:
Go to your Activity tab.
Use the filter button and then the tag dropdown menu to select a specific tag (e.g., “Wide 8 Buck”).
The chart will now display when that specific animal or tag is most active—broken down by:
Time of day
Wind direction
Moon phase
Weather patterns
Date range
& more
Why this matters: You can quickly see if a particular animal tends to show up more at dawn, on a rising moon, or after a cold front—giving you real, actionable patterns.
🔹 Step 3: Use the Forecast to Predict Future Movement
The real power of tagging comes when you pair it with the Forecast tab in HuntControl.
How to forecast tag movement:
Go to the Forecast tab in HuntControl.
Select the Predictions button
Use the filter button and then the tag dropdown menu to select a specific tag (e.g., “Wide 8 Buck”).
HuntControl will compare that tag’s historical data with upcoming weather conditions, showing you the days and times that tag is most likely to appear.
You’ll get a day-by-day breakdown of which conditions match past sightings of that tag—essentially predicting when that animal is most likely to show up again.
🧠 Example: If your “Split G2 Buck” has historically shown up at 6:30 AM with a NE wind and low pressure, HuntControl will highlight upcoming mornings with similar conditions. That’s when you want to be in the stand.
🔹 Final Tips for Using Tags Effectively
Create tags for individual bucks if you want to track them.
Don’t forget to clean up unused tags to keep your dashboard organized.
Be sure to tag every image of the animal you are tracking for the best results.
Tagging = Data. Data = Patterns. Patterns = Success.
HuntControl’s tagging system isn’t just for sorting photos—it’s a tool to predict behavior, plan hunts, and manage your land smarter. By consistently tagging and using the Activity Chart and Forecast tools, you’ll uncover movement patterns you’d never see from trail photos alone.
So tag those images—and let HuntControl help you Conserve Every Detail.
