Introduction

Wiser APIs allow you to have more frequent and seamless access to competitive pricing data. They can be integrated into your price analysis and optimization systems and related workflows for agile and data-driven decision-making, unlocking the full potential of your pricing strategies.

What is an API

API is the acronym for Application Programming Interface - a software intermediary that allows two software systems to talk to each other via a request/response-based communication. In simple terms, it is a pull system.

With Wiser APIs you'll be able to query matches, most recently extracted prices, and live pricing information for your key value items on demand. The APIs can be seamlessly integrated into your price analysis and optimization systems and related workflows – enabling you to have a revolutionary approach to pricing.

How APIs work
APIs are not intended to be used directly by a person (the end user) other than a computer programmer who is incorporating it into his or her own software application and workflows.

An API offers a service to other applications and enables sharing of data within and across organizations. It simplifies programming by abstracting the underlying implementation and only exposing actions and data that the other application needs.

A program or a programmer that uses an API is said to "call" the API. The API then interprets this call, performs the necessary actions, and responds with the information requested in a digestible way. The services that make up the API are also known as subroutines, methods, requests, or endpoints.
