Recording is available on all plans. To create a new recording, start by clicking on the + button in the top navigation bar and select Recording from the dropdown menu.

You’ll be taken to the pre-recording settings page in a new tab and prompted to adjust your video and audio settings. You’ll also have the option to add a teleprompter script to keep you on track while recording.

You can type your script manually or upload it as a .txt file. If you’ve got a general idea of what you want to say but aren’t sure how to say it, you can use our script generator to write it with AI. Simply click “Generate Script,” enter a short summary of your video, select a tone, and pick a distribution channel.

When you click “Generate,” we’ll use your selections to write an award-worthy script for your video. You can edit this script, or click “Regenerate” to go back to the drawing board. When you’re happy with your script, click “Save” to add it to the teleprompter.

Select your camera, screen, and microphone and click “Start Recording” to begin.

Pause your recording at any time by clicking the pause icon at the bottom right of your screen. Each time you pause your recording, your progress is saved as a new clip. To record a new clip, simply click the red recording icon. You can review, rename, and delete clips while recording is paused by opening the clip manager.

If you’re recording your camera and screen, you can also toggle between camera-only, screen-only, and combined layouts for your clips. You can also make these changes when editing your recording.

Change your camera, microphone, or select a different screen to record by opening the settings menu while recording is paused. You can also upload, edit, or generate a new script for the teleprompter.

When you’re finished, click the end button to upload your recording to Wistia.

And that’s it! You’ve just recorded a video in Wistia. Edit your recording to make layout changes, add background music and transitions, stitch in other media from your content library, and more.
