A Parent account in Schoology provides you with your own account and a Child Activity display where you can access Schoology from your student’s perspective. You are able to access what they access and monitor their progress in courses.
To switch from your account to your student’s account, click your name at the top right and select your student’s name from the drop-down list.
If you have multiple students associated with your account, select the student account you would like to view.
The check mark icon in the drop-down menu indicates which account you are currently viewing.
Schoology Home Page - Student View: Left Side
The default view of the left side of the Schoology home page is Student Activity and displays the student’s recent activities, which includes assignment submissions and any grades earned.
You can click the student’s name to display the user profile.
You can click the graded item name to display the assignment or quiz information.
Click the drop-down triangle next to Most Recent to view additional information.
Most Recent: Displays the student’s most recent activity in Schoology.
Updates: Displays any announcements added by teachers or administrators.
Submissions: Displays the student’s assignment, discussion, and quiz submissions.
Comments: Displays the student’s discussion comments.
Grades: Displays the student’s grades for individual graded items.
Click Enrollments to view the student’s courses and current quarter grades.
Click the drop-down triangle next to Current and click Past to see the student’s past course enrollments and overall course grades.
Schoology Home Page - Student View: Right Side
The items that appear on the right side of the Schoology home page include the following.
Recent Attendance: eAcademy does not use this feature since each school district has their own method of calculating attendance, and eAcademy is an asynchronous program where students can work at their own pace and log in any day and time of the week.
To Do: UPCOMING: Displays the upcoming graded items that have due dates including assignments, discussions, and/or quizzes.
Upcoming Events: Displays any events the teacher created for students.
Recently Completed: Displays the student’s recently completed graded items. A dash indicates the graded item has not been scored yet by the teacher.

Click the WIU eAcademy logo to return to the Schoology home page.
Schoology Top Menu Bar - Student View > Courses:
Displays a list of the student’s current courses. Click a course card to review the course’s topics and materials.
Course Home Page - Student View: Left Side
After you click a course card, the items that appear on the left side of the course home page include the following.
Materials: Clicking the drop-down triangle on the right allows you to quickly navigate to any week or topic in the course.
Updates: Displays any announcements posted by the teacher.
Grades: Displays the student’s grades by grading periods and grade categories.

Members: Displays the course teacher’s name.
Course Home Page - Student View: Center
The course content appears in the center of the course home page. Each teacher designs their courses in their own way, but similar items you will see include a Weekly Schedule and the weekly folders.
At the top of the course, you will see a folder that could be titled Welcome to [course name], Course Introduction, Course Information, or just the course name. This folder contains important information including the teacher's introduction and email address, course syllabus, student expectations, and grading expectations.
Course Home Page - Student View: Right Side
The right side of the course home page displays any UPCOMING graded items that have due dates including assignments, discussions, and/or quizzes. Click the graded item name to view the item and instructions.
You can also click the calendar icon next to UPCOMING. This displays past and upcoming events and assignments. You can change the calendar view to Month, Week, or Day. Click an event or assignment name to view more information in a dialog box.
Schoology Top Menu Bar - Student View > Groups:
Groups are online spaces for students and teachers to discuss topics, share resources, and collaborate on projects. Typically, students only join groups when invited by a teacher.
Schoology Top Menu Bar - Student View > Grades:
Grade Report: Displays the student’s current courses.

Click a course name to view the student’s grades in the course.
The grades are broken down by quarters (nine-week grading periods) and categories (e.g, assignments, discussions). When clicking a course name, you may also see any comments the teacher entered for a graded item.
Example Grade Report from the 2023-2024 School Year
If you see a dash (—) where a grade should be, the student has not completed the item yet.
After clicking Grades from the top menu bar and then clicking Grade Report, you can click Download Student Report to view all the student’s course grades.
Select the grading periods you would like to appear in the report, and then click Next.
Click Select All or individually select the courses you would like to view, and then click Submit.
The grades will appear on the next page.
Right click on the page to select options such as Save as… or Print….
Click your browser’s Back arrow to return to the previous page.
Schoology Top Menu Bar - Student View > Calendar icon:
Displays past and upcoming events and assignments. You can change the calendar view to Month, Week, or Day. Click an event or assignment name to view more information in a dialog box.
Schoology Top Menu Bar > Your Name or Student’s Name:
At the top right, you will either see your name or your student’s name. Click the drop-down triangle to view more options and log out of Schoology.
To receive notifications about your student’s activity, select your student’s account and then click Settings.
Click the Notifications tab.
You can choose to receive an email summary of your student’s activity. Also, you can also choose to receive an email when an item’s due date has passed without a submission from your student. Click Save Changes after making your selections.
