There may be times when you want to re-enroll a student in a dropped course in Genius. If you drop a student from courses in Genius and then re-enroll them, please be aware of the following consequences.

CONSEQUENCES WHEN RE-ENROLLING A STUDENT INSTEAD OF HAVING THE STUDENT REINSTATED

When you drop a student from a Schoology course and later re-enroll them:

  • The student's account is moved to the Schoology course's Inactive Member list.

  • The eAcademy staff must manually re-enroll the student in the course after we are contacted by a student or teacher via the Help Desk.

  • The running grade-to-date will no longer appear in the student's Genius account. Schoology does not support two enrollments for the same course for the same student.

  • Your district may incur a charge for the additional enrollment.

A BETTER OPTION

When students are REINSTATED in a course (rather than re-enrolled), their student accounts are automatically moved from the Inactive Member list to the Active Member list in the Schoology course. Additionally, the student's running grade-to-date will appear in their Genius account. Finally, your district will not incur a charge for the additional enrollment.

YOUR TASK

Request that a student be reinstated to the courses - DO NOT re-enroll students in their courses in Genius.

  • Please submit a help desk ticket and request that the student be reinstated in any desired courses that were previously dropped. List the specific courses you want for the student.

  • This retains any graded work the student completed and ensures a seamless transition back into the Schoology course. Also, there will be no additional charge if you have a student reinstated in a course.
