eAcademy students may take online courses in two learning management systems (platforms): Schoology and Virtual School Toolkit (VST).
Courses in Schoology are created and taught by our local district teachers. We supplement our courses with vendor courses created by VLN Education. VLN Education courses may be taught by our local district teachers or VLN Education teachers. These courses are hosted on the Virtual School Toolkit (VST) platform.
You’ll begin your journey to online learning by logging in to Genius, the eAcademy student information system. Your school district will provide you with your login credentials.
Genius Dashboard
Once you log in to your account, you’ll be on the Genius Dashboard, which displays all of your student’s enrolled courses and provides you with a quick overview of completion progress as well as access to their courses.
Course Cards: The course card displays the course name, your student’s cumulative grade at the top right, Start and End dates, and your student’s progress in the course.
You can see how many assessments have been completed and graded, and how many are expected.
Please note that any assessments completed in Schoology on a given day will be updated in Genius around 10:00 PM EST each night.
Activity: Displays the approximate number of minutes the student spent in each enrolled course.
Course Requests: This feature is not functional.
Gradebook Quality: Once the student has completed assessments, the Gradebook Quality will begin populating.
Green indicates grades greater than 70%.
Yellow indicates grades that are between 50% and 70%.
Red indicates grades lower than 50%.
Minutes per Course: Displays a circle graph with the approximate number of minutes the student spent in each course.
Student’s Messages
Student’s Messages displays the internal messages sent from and to your student. It is an additional way students can contact their teacher. You can access the messages from the navigation menu on the side or at the top. You will see a number if there are any unread messages.
The Guardian’s Messages displays any messages sent to you. You will select a message to view its contents.
Course Information
Displays a list of the courses your student is enrolled in, along with the teacher's information. This information gives you their email address if you need to contact them.
Gradebook
Displays the grades for the course(s) your student is taking. Select the View Details button for a list of grades for that particular course. Remember, grades from Schoology update in Genius around 10:00 PM EST each night.
Select View Details to see your student’s grade, the due date, and when your student completed the assessment.
View Transcript
Once eAcademy staff members mark a student as Complete at the end of the school year, the course name and final grade will appear here. This is an unofficial transcript that you may download for your records.
Report Card
Displays the student’s quarter grades. For best results, enter the quarter’s Start Date and End Date when running the report. This ensures that all graded items for the quarter are included in the report.

Go to LMS
If you also have a Schoology parent account, select Go to LMS to access Schoology, where your student’s courses are located.
School Calendar
Displays the eAcademy calendar events.
When you are finished navigating the student’s page, click Logout at the top right to exit Genius.
