Range vs. Continuous courses in the Buzz platform

The Buzz platform is a learning management system where Accelerate Education courses are stored. Courses taught by eAcademyPLUS™ teachers are Range courses and include quarter grading periods. Grades from Range courses are exported to Genius and are available in the District Data Report.

Courses taught by Accelerate Education teachers (teacher name is listed as No Teacher in Genius) are Continuous courses. These courses do not include quarter grading periods. Grades from Continuous courses are not able to be exported to Genius and do not appear in the District Data Report. There may be times when you need to export a student’s gradebook from Buzz so that you can calculate a quarter grade.

After logging into Genius, click Go to LMS from the left navigation menu.

Click the computer icon next to Accelerate Education.

Under Choose a student to observe, click the student’s name.

From the Observer app home page, click the Grade icon at the bottom right of the course card. The Current score will be displayed for a Continuous course and is a running, cumulative grade; this is not a quarter grade. If this was a Range course, there would be no Current score displayed due to the course settings.

Select SYLLABUS ORDER at the top of the screen, and then from the top right menu bar, click View printer-friendly version (printer icon).

At the bottom right corner of the Grades, click PRINT.

Destination: You can either select a printer or select Save as PDF. If selecting a printer, click Print next. If selecting Save as PDF, click Save next and then select a folder in which to save the file.

Below is an example of Page 1 from a student’s gradebook. The course is taught by an Accelerate Education teacher and is a Continuous course. You can choose to calculate the student’s quarter grade using a quarter’s Enrollment Start and End Dates, if needed.
