For this example, we’ll add the Audio Recorder into a book chapter, which we already created in our Moodle course’s Content bank. Remember to click Turn editing on from the top right side of your course home page.

To begin, click one of the books in your course and click the Edit chapter icon (gear icon) to edit the desired page within the book.

Click the Toolbar Toggle button to expand the text editor toolbar.

In the content area, add text to introduce the purpose of the Audio Recorder and provide any needed instructions. Below your text, place the cursor where you want to insert your H5P activity.

From the toolbar, click H5P Plugin.

Click Browse repositories....

From the File picker, click Content bank.

Click Audio Recorder for Vocabulary Practice. This is an H5P activity we created earlier in our Moodle course’s Content bank.

On the next screen, decide if you want to link to the file or make a copy of the file. For this demonstration, we'll keep the default option, Link to the file.

  • Make a copy of the file: Selecting this option will create a static copy of the H5P activity. The activity will not be updated if you edit the activity in the Content bank.

  • Link to the file: Selecting this option will keep the H5P activity updated if you edit the activity in the Content bank. It’s best to select this option if you ever think you’ll need to edit the H5P activity.

Click Select this file.

H5P options: The H5P options determine what buttons appear at the bottom of an H5P activity. Decide if you want to select Allow download, Embed button, and/or Copyright button, and then click Insert H5P Content.

  • Allow download: Allows you to download an .h5p file you can add to any Moodle resource or activity that has a text editor.

  • Embed button: Provides you with H5P activity's embed code you can add to the HTML source of any Moodle resource or activity that has a text editor.

  • Copyright button: Permits the learner to view the copyright information you added to any media shown in the activity.

The content area will display a large gray rectangle with the letters, H5P. This is expected behavior when you add an H5P activity into a book chapter and you are in editing mode.

Click Save changes.

You and your students will see your instructions and the Audio Recorder. At the bottom of the activity are the words Reuse and Embed because we selected these options before inserting the H5P content.
