There are two ways to set up a course in Buzz.
Range courses are taught by our local teachers.
Continuous courses are taught by Accelerate Education teachers.
After logging into Genius, click Go to LMS from the left navigation menu.
Click the computer icon next to Accelerate Education (Buzz).
Under Choose a student to observe, click the student’s name.
To view the course’s activities: Click the Activities icon at the bottom right of the course card.
NOTES:
For a Continuous course, the Current score displayed on the course card is a running, cumulative grade; this is not a quarter grade.
For a Range course, there will be no Current score displayed due to the course settings.
Range Course: To locate a local teacher’s name and contact information, scroll through the INTRODUCTION Google Slides. If you are not able to locate the teacher’s contact information, please submit a help desk ticket.
Continuous Course: To locate an Accelerate Education’s teacher’s name and contact information, click to expand the Resources folder, and then click Teacher Contact Information.
Range Course: You can view course modules by Period. All periods displays all the course modules. For Fall semester courses, you can select Q1 or Q2 to only view modules in those quarters. For the Spring semester courses, you can select Q3 or Q4.
Click the course folders to expand them and view the course content. As an Observer, you are not able to submit any work on behalf of the student. The green check marks indicate that the student was either excused from the item or completed the item.
To view the course’s grades: Click the Grades icon at the bottom right of the course card.
If you select a Range course, you can view Activity, Score, Status, Submitted date, and Due date.
If you select a Continuous course, you can view Activity, Score, Status, Submitted date, and Target due date.
In a Range course taught by our local teachers with grading periods enabled, the Grades default to All periods. To see a specific grading period and the associated grades, click All periods and make another selection.
You can view the student’s grades by GRADING PERIODS AND CATEGORIES or SYLLABUS ORDER.
Syllabus order displays grades in chronological order from the beginning of the course to the end of the course. You’ll see the Activity name, Score, Status, Submitted date, and Due date for each graded item. Scores in red indicate the student fell below the 70% grading threshold. Submitted dates in red indicate the student was late in turning in the work.
In a Continuous course taught by an Accelerate Education teacher, you can also switch between GRADING CATEGORIES and SYLLABUS ORDER.
To view a student’s activity in a course: From the Grades page, click Activity from the top menu bar. You can view each item that was accessed, the Start time, and the Duration by date.
