Schoology Login Report

The Schoology login report displays the following information:

  • User - the name of a user at your school that is associated with the type of action that was performed.

  • Source IP Address - the source IP address that Schoology retrieves over the internet from a device or network from which the type of action was performed.

  • Browser - the browser information (type and version) from which the type of action was performed.

  • Timestamp - displays the date and time at which the type of action was performed.

  • Type - displays the type of action performed by the user (e.g., Login success, Logout).

NOTE REGARDING MOBILE APP DATA: While mobile app data is included in the usage analytics report, it is currently not included in the login report. Remember to encourage students to use a laptop or tablet when accessing Schoology courses so their login data appears in the login report.

Schoology Usage Analytics

The Schoology usage analytics report displays the following information:

  • Last Name & First Name

  • Action Type - includes Create, Delete, Read, Submit, Update

  • Item Type -includes Assessment, Assignment, Discussion, File, Page, Private Message, Session

  • Item Name - the name of the assessment, assignment, or discussion

  • Course Name & Section Name - displays the eAcademy teacher’s name

  • Last Event Timestamp - refers to a point in time when an event occurred

  • Event Count - the number of times a student clicked on an item

  • Month, Date, and Timestamp

  • Time Spent (Seconds) - if the time is under 60 seconds, then nothing will populate in this field.

    • Schoology may automatically track the time spent on reading activities or content, such as assignments or materials, without requiring user interaction to start or stop a timer. In such cases, it may not display specific time durations for each instance of reading, as it assumes that the user's presence on a particular page or content item implies time spent reading it. Schoology might aggregate reading time over a specific period, such as a day, week, or month, rather than displaying time spent on individual instances of reading. This can make it easier to see overall time spent on educational activities over a given timeframe.

    • Currently, the time spent data is displayed by rounding down to the nearest minute. For example, if a student spends 2 minutes 20 seconds on the course material, Time Spent is displayed as 120 seconds.

NOTE: The usage analytics report can only report activities for the previous 90 days.
