When adding text in the Scene Design view, open your preset overlay (e.g., Title, Multi Line, etc.) and scroll down to the Animation drop down menu.
Select "Only In" on your first asset, "None" on middle asset(s) , and "Only Out" on the last asset for which you want this text to appear.
