Keeping your password up to date

How can I ensure our passwords are up to date and secure?

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Keeping up to date with passwords and security can always be challenging, so to help keep you and your team as secure as possible, we have created some rules and protocols in WorkBright.

These are the rules around creating passwords:

  • A password cannot contain your name or login ID

  • A password cannot contain the same character in sequence, for instance: zzzz, or 1234

  • Must contain at least one of the following special characters: ~ ! @ # $ % ^ & * _ - + =`| ' \ () {} [] : ; " <> , . ? /

  • Must contain at least one number

  • Must contain at least 12 characters

  • The password cannot be the same as your 6 previously used passwords

  • The Password must not contain easily guessable words (password, 12345)

Suppose there are any errors when creating your password. In that case, the necessary corrections will be highlighted above the password rules after you have submitted the new password, as shown in the example below.

If there are multiple errors, you will see them listed one after the other.

In addition to these rules, we have additional requirements to ensure security:

  • Passwords will expire every 6 months and must be updated

  • Your updated password can not be the same as your previous 6 passwords

  • The account will be locked after 5 failed attempts to log in with the wrong password.

If there is a locked account, you can refer to this guide to learn how you unlock locked users.
