If you are on Mac OS Sierra, you might run into errors when installing the Workgroups client. This is related to a permissions issue and can be easily resolved by installing the client from the Mac Terminal using the "sudo" command. This article walks you through the process.

  • First, download the client from the Application Deployment page:

  • After the disk image is downloaded (.dmg file) open it by clicking on it in your browser or by going to your Downloads folder

  • You will be presented with the installer icon and asked to "Double click icon to install". Do NOT double click!

  • Instead, right click and choose "Show Package Contents"

  • Find the "Installer" executable under Contents -> MacOS

  • Launch your Mac Terminal. (Open Finder, select Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal)

  • In the Terminal window, type the command "sudo" then follow it by a space and follow it by including the path to the installer in step 5. You can do this by typing the "sudo" command in the terminal window then dragging the "Installer" icon into the terminal window.

Note: Make sure there is a space between the "sudo" command and the path.

  • Run the command by hitting Enter. You may be asked to enter a password. Enter the same password that is used to log on to the machine. Hit Enter.

Note: When typing in your password it will not show that you are entering anything.

  • Your client should install successfully now.
