While recording? You shouldn't. The longer answer, only speak when you're asking them the question. Make sure you let them answer the question fully and only speak after it is very clear they have finished speaking. Don't speak, laugh or make any conversational noises while your talent is speaking. We know it can feel awkward, but hearing a disembodied voice can be distracting, to say the least! Feel free to nod or smile quietly to encourage your coworker and let them know you're listening to them. You can speak as much as you want between takes when the camera stops rolling.
