Payment Terms and Process

Guide to Worksome's payment terms, workflows, and regional processing for clients and workers, ensuring smooth and timely payments.

Written by Mara Ghencea

What are Payment Terms?

Payment terms on Worksome refer to the agreed-upon timeframe within which a client must pay for the services provided by a worker. These terms are an essential part of the contract between the client and the worker.

Available Payment Terms

Worksome offers several payment term options for clients, which are determined through contract negotiation. The available payment terms include:

  • 8 days

  • 14 days

  • 30 days

  • 45 days

  • 53 days

  • 60 days

  • 75 days

You can check payment terms on a hire in Contract details:

As well as in a full version of the contract:

How your payment term is counted

Every payment term uses one of two methods. Which one applies is set on the contract, and it changes the date your term is counted from.

  • Net — the term is counted from the date the payment request is submitted.

For example, a 30-day Net term on a payment request submitted on 3 March is due on 2 April.

  • End of month — the term is counted from the end of the calendar month in which the payment request is submitted.

For example, a 30-day End of month term on a payment request submitted on 3 March is counted from 31 March and is due on 30 April.

Both methods are available across the payment term lengths above. Which combination applies to you is set on your contract.

If your client uses batch invoicing

Some clients group multiple approved payment requests into a single invoice on a fixed cycle. Where this applies, your payment term is counted from that batch invoice rather than from the date you submitted the request, so the approval email will not show a payment timing estimate. Check the Payment Request page for the current status.

How Payment Terms Work

  1. Worker submits payment request: After completing work, the worker submits a payment request through the Worksome platform.

  2. Client approval: The client reviews and approves the payment request.

  3. Invoice generation: Worksome generates an invoice from the approved payment request. Where the client uses batch invoicing, several approved requests may be combined into one invoice on the client's invoicing cycle.

  4. Payment processing: The client pays the invoice within the agreed payment term, counted using the Net or End of month method described above.

  5. Worker payment: Once Worksome receives payment from the client, the funds are processed and transferred to the worker.

Important Notes

  • Payment terms are counted from the payment request submission date (Net) or from the end of the month in which the request was made (End of month) — not from the date the invoice is generated.

  • Where the client uses batch invoicing, the term is counted from the batch invoice.

  • Factoring takes precedence. If factoring (pre-payment) is enabled on your contract, you are paid on a fixed schedule from the invoice issue date regardless of the client's payment term or invoicing cadence.

  • For specific payment arrangements or concerns, always refer to your contract or contact Worksome support.

Currency and Payments

Worksome supports contracts and payments in the following currencies:

  • GBP

  • EUR

  • USD

  • AUD

  • CAD

  • SGD

  • DKK

  • NOK

  • SEK

  • AED

You select currency in Account settings > Markets> by choosing your primary market

Your payment is normally made in the same currency as your contract.

If a payment needs to be made in a different currency, it must still be one of the currencies listed above — Worksome cannot pay out in a currency that is not on that list. If your local currency is not listed, agree with your client which of the supported currencies your contract will use.

If you are paid through US payroll or UK PAYE, your contract must be in USD or GBP respectively.

Responsibility

While Worksome facilitates the payment process, both clients and workers need to understand and adhere to the agreed-upon payment terms to ensure smooth financial transactions and maintain positive working relationships.
