Active participation is key to the successful completion of the MScFE program. While the courses are delivered asynchronously, you are still expected to complete weekly assignments, engage in the forums, and collaborate with their peers. To meet the minimum weekly attendance requirements, you must:

  • Complete a practice or graded quiz,

  • Submit a collaborative review task, or

  • Participate in forum discussions about relevant course topics. Forum posts must be at least 200 characters in length

Logging into the WQU Learning Platform and accessing the course without completing an activity or actively participating does not fulfill the minimum attendance requirements.

Students who do not actively participate in the first week of a course are automatically cancelled from the course. Students who fail to actively participate during week 2 are automatically withdrawn from the course. Upon successful completion of MScFE560 Financial Markets*, students are granted a maximum of 2 Cancellations and 2 Withdrawals over the duration of the MScFE program. Cancellations and Withdrawals count against the Maximum Time Frame (MTF) of 3 years permitted to complete the program. In addition, Withdrawals appear on the transcript.

Managing your journey through the MScFE program is in your hands. If you are unable to dedicate sufficient time to your coursework, the best option is to take a Leave of Absence (LOA) during the Registration Period for your next upcoming course. If you are already enrolled in a course and realize that you are unable to complete it, you may also action your own Cancellation (in week 1) or Withdrawal (in weeks 2 and 3) via the Registration Tool.

*NOTE: Students are not considered fully matriculated until they have successfully completed the MScFE560 Financial Markets course and submitted their official transcripts. As such, Cancellations, Withdrawals, and course failures for this course do not count against the Maximum Time Frame nor will they appear on the transcript. However, students do not have the option to take a Leave of Absence (LOA) for this course. Students in the MScFE560 Financial Markets course are granted a maximum of 2 Cancellations, 2 Withdrawals, and 2 course Failures for this course. Once you have successfully completed the course, the attendance policy described above applies for the remainder of the MScFE program.
