Follow these steps to edit an existing assignment and add a reading. When creating a new Writable assignment you will automatically be prompted with the option to add a reading.

  1. From My Assignments, click the assignment you'd like to edit.

  2. Click "Edit".

  3. Scroll down and select a prompt. Then click the pencil icon to edit.

  4. Click "Readings" and then choose "Add Reading".

  5. Choose how you'd like to add your reading.

    1. Paste your text - Copy and paste in your own writing or images.

    2. Upload a PDF - Choose a file from your device to upload. Only PDFs can be uploaded at this time.

    3. Generate AI reading - Enter a topic, grade level band, and other details to have AI generate a reading for your assignment.

  6. Once you have added in your reading(s), click "Finish" to save changes.

Tips!

  • You can preview your reading by clicking 'Preview' in the upper right corner.

  • If you want to delete the reading, click the 'Trash' icon.

  • Differentiated Prompts can have different readings to accommodate for learners' needs.

  • You can add multiple readings to a prompt using the same process. Be sure to add titles to label each reading for students.

Once you assign it, students will see the reading next to their responses. If there are multiple readings, students can drop down in the left corner to select which to view.
