What do the icons mean next to a student's review?

After reviewing work, students may see icons next to their checklist ratings to show how their scores compared to other reviewers.

Updated over a week ago

If a student completes a self-review or peer review they may see some icons to indicate if their scores matched other reviewers' scores on each checklist item.

The underlined star shows the average rating, or the teacher's rating if it has been graded, on that checklist item.

  • A Green Check indicates that the reviewer's score matched the average rating left by other reviewers.

  • A Yellow Dash indicates that there is yet to be a consensus on how the writer should be scored on the checklist item based on reviewers' scores.

  • A Red Question Mark alerts the reviewer that their score on that checklist item differs greatly from the other reviewers' scores. If a student sees this, they should go back to the writing and consider why their rating may differ so greatly. If possible, reviewers should leave comments to help explain their rating choices and guide the author's revisions! The underlined star shows the average score from other reviewers.
