Responsibilities

  • Keep the library in good order by ensuring that books are stored using the organization system in place, for example, by type or in alphabetical order.

  • Ensure the library is clean and hazard-free.

  • Greet students as they enter the library and offer them help in locating the books or materials they need.

  • Assist students with checking out books and recording the check out on the computer system, ensuring to advise students when the books should be returned.

  • Help and advise students and teachers on the use of the library's computers and photocopying equipment where required.

  • Make calls and send out letters to students who have overdue books requesting their return.

  • Ensure that all returned books are processed as returned on the computer system and re-organize them back into their original location.

  • Keep the computer system up-to-date.

  • Issue Library cards and issue replacements for lost library cards.

    Requirements

  • High School Education or above

  • 2 years of experience within an educational setting would be highly advantageous

  • Vocational qualification in a reading or librarian-focused course would be beneficial

  • Previous experience working in a library setting or bookstore would be highly desirable

  • Excellent computer skills

  • Great communication skills

  • Excellent attention to details

  • Highly organized

  • Friendly and approachable

  • Great customer service skills
