Responsibilities

  • Manages department staff, drivers, maintenance mechanics, and service personnel.

  • Collaborates with the HR department to obtain required staffing levels.

  • Train all new hires.

  • Plan routes to effectively ensure on-time delivery for goods/services/vehicles.

  • Ensure maintenance is carried out on the fleet as and when required.

  • Ensure that vehicle repairs are completed on time, and that all vehicles are roadworthy at all times.

  • Ensure that drivers are made aware of accidents, road closures, and traffic jams and have the opportunity to take alternative routes.

  • Oversee the delivery and collection of items to be transported.

  • Complete effective rotas for the staff, ensuring adequate cover at all times.

  • Provide timely reports on financials, performance, and productivity where required.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree or above in procurement and supply chain, operations, logistics management, or related field

    • Minimum 2 years of experience in the logistics or fleet management industry

    • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

    • Confident with all computer programs including, Excel, Word, and Outlook

    • Experience with providing reports and providing detailed presentations

    • Excellent leadership abilities

    • Confident to delegate workloads

    • Sound knowledge of the logistics industry and its functions

    • Demonstrated experience in a managerial role

    • Demonstrated knowledge of various computer systems relating to logistics planning and tracking
