Using the AI Automations Diagnostic Tool

Learn how the AI Automations Explainer helps you quickly understand what happened with your student’s automations.

AI Automation Diagnostics

When an automation doesn’t fire the way you expected, there can be several possible reasons. Most commonly:

  • The automation was turned off

  • The automation had already fired for that student and was set to run “once only”

  • A condition inside the automation was not met

  • The student never triggered the starting action

In the past, the main way to investigate these issues was by manually sorting through Activity Logs. The new AI Automation Diagnostics tool saves you time by searching the logs for you and surfacing relevant information about what happened with a specific student.

How to Use the Tool

From your Students section, open a student profile and click Courses.

From the menu on the right hand side, select Diagnose Automation Issues.

You’ll see a chat window with suggested questions related to the student’s recent activity in this course.

You can:

  • Click one of the suggested questions

  • Or type your own question into the chat window

The AI will search the student’s activity and return relevant information about what occurred.

Verify Information in the Activity Log

You can always verify information directly in the student’s Activity Log, which provides a detailed breakdown of exactly what happened for that student.

This includes items such as:

  • Emails sent

  • Automations skipped

  • Trainings released

  • Tags applied

  • Trigger events

  • Course activity

Why This Matters

This tool can save a huge amount of time when troubleshooting automations and student activity. Instead of manually searching through logs line by line, you can quickly ask questions in plain language and get relevant answers immediately.

That means less time troubleshooting — and more time focused on building your courses, supporting your students, and growing your business.
