How to Use Form View in xTiles

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Form View lets you collect structured submissions from anyone — teammates, clients, or the public — and automatically convert each response into a card inside a collection.

Form View is generated automatically when users submit your form, and all entries become part of the collection’s dataset.

Form View is available only on the Plus plan.

How to Start Using Form View

You can create a form from any collection:

  1. Open a collection.

  2. Go to View Settings.

  3. Select Form View from the available view types.

This switches your current view into a Form Builder, where each property of the collection becomes a form field.

Form structure includes:

  • Form title

  • Form description

  • Form fields (based on collection properties)

  • Response settings (confirmation message, behavior after submit)

Each submitted form creates a new card inside the collection.

Form Settings (Form Builder View)

When working inside Form View, you can customize:

1. Form Title

Rename your form to reflect the purpose (e.g., “Feedback Form”, “Client Intake”, “Bug Report”).

2. Form Description

Add instructions or context for users filling out the form.

3. Field Settings

Each collection property becomes a form field.
You can edit:

  • Field name

  • Field description

  • Whether the field appears in the form

  • Select options (if property type is Select)

  • Placeholder values

  • Hide/unhide properties (in View Settings)

4. Response Settings

Configure what happens after submitting a form:

  • Show a confirmation message ("Your submission was successful!")

  • Redirect or show next steps

5. Preview Form

Click Preview to see how the form will look to users.
This allows testing your form before sharing it.

6. Share Form

Click Share to copy the public link to your form.
You can send it to anyone — no xTiles account required to submit.

Collection Settings (when not in Form View)

When you switch back to a regular view (Table, Gallery, Board, etc.), you can configure properties that will become form fields.

In Collection View you can:

  • Add new properties

  • Change property types

  • Configure Select options

  • Set default values

Every property added in the collection automatically appears as a field in Form View.

How Submissions Become Cards

Each time someone submits the form:

  1. A new card is created in the collection.

  2. All submitted values become property values of the card.

  3. Cards appear in Collection View, you can switch to any view (Board, Gallery, Calendar, etc.).

This makes Form View perfect for:

  • Feedback collection

  • Surveys

  • Client onboarding

  • Internal request forms

  • Bug reports

  • Event registration
