Common questions about the replacement of Xylect

Updated over a week ago

Xylect's Transition to Read-Only

When will Xylect become read-only?

  • The system is expected to move to read-only mode on June 30, 2025. Please use this date as your point of reference and begin working in Solver now to avoid disruptions or the risk of losing work in the legacy system. Once Xylect transitions to read-only, no new work can be created in the legacy system.

  • We highly recommend exploring the training and support materials available in the Xylem Solver Help Center to get familiar with using Solver before Xylect becomes read-only.

  • Xylect will no longer be accessible after its official retirement at the end of 2025.

What can I do in Xylect once it's in read-only mode?

Once Xylect enters read-only mode, you will no longer be able to create new work in the legacy system. While you can still search for products and use Xylect as a reference tool, generating proposals or quote documents, saving changes, or exporting files will no longer be possible. The same applies to Xylect Desktop.

I'm currently using Xylect Desktop. What should I expect when Xylect becomes read-only?

When Xylect becomes read-only, the Desktop Client will also become read-only according to Xylect Web. Users will still be able to select and configure pumps, but saving or exporting configurations will no longer be possible.

Note: There are no plans for a desktop version of Solver, as the cloud provides better long-term benefits for users. By remaining cloud-based, Solver ensures that you always have the latest features and improvements without needing to manually install updates, saving time and avoiding potential disruptions. The platform is hosted on secure servers with real-time data backups, reducing the risk of data loss due to hardware failure or other local issues that could affect a desktop application.

Migrating Projects to Solver

What will happen to my projects saved in Xylect?

  • On July 1, 2025, ‘project import’ functionality will be introduced in Solver to support the automatic migration of your saved projects from Xylect to Solver.

  • When you log in to Solver for the first time on / after July 1, 2025, you’ll be prompted to import your saved Xylect projects (see image below).

  • If you choose to proceed, your projects will be transferred automatically to Solver. Please note that the migration may take several minutes, and you won’t be able to use Solver while the import is in progress – so plan accordingly. If you decline the initial prompt, you won’t see the pop-up message on the home page again, but you can still import your projects later through the 'Projects' page.

  • A new 'Import Projects' button will also be available in the top right corner of the Projects page (see image below). This offers another way to start the migration if you missed the initial prompt. Please take action as soon as possible, as this option will only be available until July 31. The import process will take several minutes, during which you will be unable to use Solver – so plan accordingly.

  • Automatic migration will be available until July 31. After this date, this feature will be disabled. If you haven’t migrated your projects by this date, you will need to manually recreate them in Solver. Acting early ensures you don’t lose any work and allows for a smooth transition.

I declined the offer to automatically import my projects to Solver. What should I do?

  • If you declined the initial automatic ‘import projects’ prompt, you won’t see it again on the home page – but you’ll still have another opportunity to import projects using the 'Import Projects' button on the 'Projects' page.

  • The ability to import your projects will only be available for a limited time. Once this feature is disabled, you will no longer have the option to automatically import your projects. At that point, your Xylect projects will remain accessible in read-only mode, and you will need to manually recreate them in Solver. If you need help creating projects in Solver, please refer to the Xylem Solver Help Center for resources or contact your local support team.

Will all my Xylect projects be eligible for migration to Solver?

All projects saved under your Xylect user account will be eligible for automatic migration.

How many times can I migrate projects from Xylect to Solver?

You can automatically import projects only once. Once a project is imported to Solver, we strongly recommend not continuing to work in Xylect, as those projects will not be eligible for migration again.

Once my projects are imported to Solver, will I be able to update them?

No. Once your projects are migrated, you will not be able to update them due to structural differences in the two platforms. The migrated projects will be set to read-only status. If you need to make changes, you'll need to create a new project in Solver using the migrated read-only version as a reference.

I need to start a new project before Xylect becomes read-only. Where should I create it?

  • If your project can be completed before June 30, 2025, you may use Xylect. However, if the project extends beyond that date, we recommend creating it directly in Solver.

  • Even if your timeline allows you to use Xylect, we strongly encourage you to start using Solver now. This gives you time to get familiar with the new platform, ask questions, and build confidence before Xylect transitions to read-only.

Who can I contact if I have questions?

Please contact your local support team or email the Solver team at solver@xylem.com.
